Being in
Athens last years and one year later in Naples and all around the year 2020 and
with Greece and Italy in the European Union, I really got surprised that still
two things were possible; and both, which I, and with my knowledge about current affairs,
i.e. being informed, I would never have expected still to exist.
When it
comes to Athens, like in Italy too, however less, one sees a lot of people driving
their Vespa or motorbike - practically not existing in Mexico or Turkey by the way - without helmet and in sandals and you see a heavy
nightlife in February, as, apart from the UK, in no other country I know of and
with practically everybody smoking in all pubs and restaurants.
When it
comes to Italy the latter point you do not see but in comparison to Milano or Torino / Turin where I only saw luxury or at least expensive shops in the whole city center, in Napoli, which to me due to its colourful buildings, narrow and decorated streets stretching over hills and a coastline along a bay with three impressive castles is the most beautiful Italian city, you see open black
street markets where piracy is sold when it comes to movies or shoes and where
you can find trousers of 1 EUR and leather shoes of 5 EUR. How is this possible?
Are they produced that cheap? Are those stolen items or just used ones? Anyway, I like those markets.
Europe still
is a Europe of regions, so diverse always and not just in languages and
dialects and accents, its people, its architecture, its cuisine but also in
their way of life- and some are just rebellions.
