Once again, and on asking
him, as there was still and for so long something I disliked about Erdogan,
something I thought he, NM (a source of information), could never turn around
to make it good, was the restart of the war against, as it is often described
superficially here, the Kurdish people, but is only as another Turkish friend
told- he told me too, that Turkish and Kurds practically always have lived
together in peace- against the PKK. He started that war practically directly
after he lost his election which, due to irregularities, was going to be hold again
soon. Here in the Western media it was presented as he needed to pretend to be
seen as a strong man, in order to be liked and voted for; Just for this he
started a war on that minority group within his country and its terror
organization PKK; the one he achieved to make peace with in his former years.
This was then finally the very and huge thing I did not like about Erdogan.
Until (!) I spoke to NM and
explicitly asked him about it. By surprise, he did know an answer, a plausible
answer:
In the years of peace the
PKK reorganized themselves, they bought weapons- still were supported by some
western countries as the United Kingdom, which, as we know, wants to see all
countries small and polarized, i.e. divided- and, secretly, planned there next
steps. In the election Erdogan has lost, also due to their success there.
Because of this success they felt strong and, by criminal actions, showed it
off, which made Erdogan to act strong! By this he indeed won the last election
by a good margin. By the way, it also shows that Erdogan has a good intuition.
Since then, however, the
PKK- recognized by all countries as a terrorist group-, and its split the TAK,
along with its Syrian offspring the YPG –supported by some Western countries-
since 2016, beat back hardly and, along with ISIS, conduct attacks against
Turkish police forces or, with regards to the latter, against planes, airports
and tourist destinations. As Erdogan does not seem to give in ever and with
every attack more Kurds, influential journalists, teachers or politicians from
their political arm, the HDP, are imprisoned it is stupid for the PKK to
continue like this, not to stop their unmoral aggressions and give in. After
all, they can live as a minority group in Turkey, as always, in freedom and
peace. A own state on Turkish territory is, therefore not justified and would
weaken the country.
